Earning a BA in religion and religious studies, Dr. Eric Forsthoefel has always sought after living in a compassionate way that is helpful for the most vulnerable. After graduating from Florida State University in 2004, he decided to put his talents to work in the scientific field, accepting admittance to medical school in Kentucky. After graduating from the University of Louisville Medical School in 2009, Dr. Eric Forsthoefel completed his residency at the Louisiana State University Medical Center in New Orleans. He was first licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana, before earning his second accreditation in Florida. He has always had a passion for providing assistance during the toughest times and, as such, specialized in critical care and emergency medicine. He has since been certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, a certification that he continues to hold.

He is currently affiliated with the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare hospital, where he is one of 26 doctors specializing in critical care medicine. These doctors are capable of diagnosing and treating patients with life-threatening conditions or ailments, such as drug overdose, heart attack, traumatic shock, bone fractures, deep lacerations, and excessive internal and external bleeding. This subgroup of specialist physicians are also sometimes referred to as ‘intensivists’, due to the nature of their work.
Though Dr. Forsthoefel is young and fairly early in his career, with six years experience working on the emergency floor, his passion and drive have allowed him to earn a respectable name and reputation for himself in the Tallahassee community. His clinical experiences have included treating a wide range of acute symptoms, injuries, and conditions in the emergency room, and his poise and quick decision-making abilities only add to his list of demonstrable skills. As an emergency physician, Dr. Forsthoefel has been specially trained to make the most urgent life-saving decisions necessary to treat patients in an emergency. He is well-versed in medical crises and is responsible for diagnosing and stabilizing patients quickly and effectively in order to save their lives. After stabilizing patients and monitoring them for an appropriate period of time, Dr Forsthoeful will make recommendations for either long-term or after-care.
